The formula
Each grade converts to grade points on the standard 4.0 scale (A = 4.0 down to F = 0.0, with +/- variants at 0.3 intervals). GPA is the credit-weighted average: GPA = Σ(grade points × credit hours) ÷ Σ(credit hours). Some schools use a slightly different scale (no A+ above 4.0, or different +/- increments) — check your institution's official scale if this needs to match a transcript exactly.
