About this tool
A plain pros and cons list treats every point as equal, so "slightly longer commute" counts the same as "double the salary". Here each point gets a weight from 1 to 5, and the balance compares the totals. The verdict also tells you how lopsided it is: a 55/45 split is a genuinely close call, while 80/20 is a fairly clear answer.
If the result surprises you, that's useful too. A gut reaction against the "winning" side often means a con is missing from the list, or a weight doesn't reflect how you really feel. For choices between several options, try the Decision Matrix. Your list is saved on this device, and "Copy link" shares it without uploading anything.
Questions about pros and cons lists
Why weight pros and cons?
Because they aren’t equal: one big con, like a much longer commute, can outweigh several small pros.
What if the result feels wrong?
That’s useful. A gut reaction against the winning side often means a con is missing or a weight doesn’t reflect how you really feel.
What if I have more than two options?
Use the decision matrix, which compares several options against the same criteria.
Is my list saved?
Yes, on this device. Copy link shares it without uploading anything.
