About this tool
Kick, snare, hi-hats, toms and crash are real recordings of an acoustic drum kit, recorded by menegass and released into the public domain (CC0) on Freesound, via the Sonic Pi sample library. They load with the page (about 450 KB) and each hit varies very slightly in pitch, so fast rolls don't sound machine-like. Like on a real kit, hitting the closed hi-hat cuts off a ringing open one. Clap and rim are synthesised, and so is every pad in the unlikely case your browser can't play the recordings.
