About this tool

Notes are synthesized live with the Web Audio API, not audio file playback. The "Piano" tone approximates a real piano's timbre with six slightly inharmonic layered harmonics (each decaying at its own rate, faster on top), a brief hammer-strike noise transient on the attack, and a slow fade toward silence rather than a true sampled/MIDI piano. The A S D F G H J K L ; keyboard row (with W E T Y U O P for the black keys) always maps to the same C4-E5 range regardless of how many keys are shown, since a QWERTY keyboard only has room for so many — extra octaves are mouse/touch only. Hold multiple keys down for chords.
